Assabet Valley High School - Kits for Kids Event - May 2025
Assabet Valley High School - Kits for Kids Event - May 2025
For about the past two months, we have been meeting with a group of sophomore students from Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School in Marlboro. They chose Kits for Kids as a model / beneficiary for their project, and on May 9th, 2025, we put together 200 kits. The Assabet students chose to donate these kits to the Department of Children and Families in Framingham.
This all started when the class's teacher reached out and invited us to one of their planning committee classes. They told us that they wanted to build 50 kits and asked us questions on how we could go about doing that. Originally, the plan was to get items for these kits, and each student would build around 2-3 kits. As the project continued, this number kept growing because the students started collecting many more items, and interest grew. We ended up building 200 kits, and had over 50 volunteers ready to build.
This project went very smoothly, and a few leadership roles evolved from it, inspiring students to a greater degree of responsibility and organizational skills. In the end, this was a great learning experience for the students, and one that they will not soon forget.
These students and their teacher Sharon Bogere put in so much effort for this event to run without complication. We take great pride in the efforts of these exceptional students and the example that they have set for their peers.
Thank you to everyone who donated funding and building materials for the kits that were distributed. The support we receive from our next generation of leaders is so very important to us all as time goes on. We look forward with great anticipation to what these students plan for new projects in the future. Should the opportunity arise we would be most pleased to partner with Assabet Valley in any future endeavors.
